Contents & Collections Passage · A related mandate

What accompanies the family, what remains, and what may properly leave.

A residence cannot always be separated from what it contains.

Furniture, books, archives, photographs, correspondence, art and inherited objects may carry practical, historical or family significance. Their future should be considered with the same discipline as the residence itself.

The governing sentence

The purpose is not to preserve everything. It is to determine what should remain together, what should pass and what may properly leave.

The mandate is accepted where it arises from a residence transition, transfer, renewal or closure already before the Firm.

Scope of the mandate

  • Initial inventory
  • Photographic record
  • Provenance documentation
  • Family allocation
  • Conservation
  • Specialist valuation
  • Restoration
  • Insurance
  • Storage
  • Transport
  • Transfer to the next residence
  • Sale through an appointed auction house or dealer
  • Donation or institutional placement
  • Treatment of family archives

The role of the Firm

D. GOLDENBERG FRÈRES ET CIE determines the required process and coordinates the parties: family representatives, conservators, valuers, auction houses, dealers, archivists, insurers, storage providers, transport specialists, and lawyers and tax advisers where required.

The Firm is not an auction house, art dealer, appraiser, conservator, museum, archive custodian, insurer or transporter.

Request consideration

A few considered sentences on the residence, the family circumstances and the reason the Firm is being approached are more useful than particulars.

Please do not submit passports, identity documents, bank statements, legal instruments, school records, medical information or other confidential material through this initial form.

The limits preserve the purpose

D. GOLDENBERG FRÈRES ET CIE is not a conventional family office, property portal, relocation company, private bank, law firm, tax practice, investment manager, construction company or concierge provider. The Firm is appointed for a defined matter of continuity. It does not assume permanent administration of the family's wealth, investments or general affairs.

Where an accepted matter requires specialist or regulated work, the Firm appoints or coordinates the appropriate professional.

D. GOLDENBERG FRÈRES ET CIE remains the point of continuity. Each appointed provider remains responsible for their professional work.
